David McCullough writes about President Truman’s life in a grand fashion. Although from simple roots, Harry Truman rose to his rank through hard work and perseverance. His demeanor did not reveal his toughness, but he does so ruthlessly and ferociously when he is faced with responsibility. He has his tough principles, which he follows through with his determination. As a Child, Truman always tried his best, and he always wanted to achieve high. He did what he had to do to pursue his interests and his motifs. As a president, he acted according to what he believed inand did not permit the challenges and obstacles to stop him from hachieving America's dreams
David McCullough revealed Truman’s spirit when he was led to assume the presidency due to Roosevelt’s death. McCullough has already met with the president but was never informed about the creation of the atomic bomb. His great responsibility inheritance set high expectations and challenging situations, but Truman stood by what he believed was better for his country. At the beginning of his Terms, The Allies’ war on the European territories saw victory when Nazi Germany surrendered on May 8. From this came the lessons of Munich. President Truman had to incorporate past political challenges into his future decisions. The United Nations charter was built to create peace and mutual progress for all countries around the world. McCullough reiterates Truman’s character, who was qualified to lead because of his heart and his ability to inspire and unite the country’s goals.
After the war, Truman’s administration had to face the unstable relations between Soviet Russia and the United States of America. Thus, the Cold war, lasting from 1946 to 1991, saw a great industrial and political change. The race for supremacy in terms of economy and technology created friction in running or directing the world’s societal evolution. Truman fought for democracy while battling his perceived danger of communism. The United States had to impose its will and its power through its intervention of different states and countries around the globe.
