Roland Robertson excavated the historical path to which globalization developed, analyzed the effects of one event on the subsequent ones, and unearthed the milestones reached worldwide. Several researchers ascribe to his research, which dates back from the 13th century to the advent of information systems and the methods to which the entire world gained consciousness over the entire concept of globalization. Here are the five successive phases of globalization processes developed by Robertson, linked with current events and examples.
The germinal Phase and the Incipient Phase
The first phase was the growth of national communities, with the Catholic Church spreading in nations. Religious philosophies were adopted, the Gregorian calendar came into use, and some formality increasingly spread. Most communities borrowed theories, incredibly human and social frameworks, to keep them together. An interesting twist was the conception of the geography idea, where boundaries were drawn. The boundaries are in use to date and separate countries and communities. This gave birth to the second phase in a seamless transition. Governments were set up in the second phase that lasted for seventy years (1800-1870). Unitary states that applied strict rules of law gave birth to several legal conventions and international relations. It was also the time when industrialization began in most countries.
