History
This article outlines the conceptual grouping of four articles that look at diverse kinds of anti-slavery struggles in diverse parts of the Americas. The scholars construct a comprehensive concept of opposition that does not necessarily entail vehemence but also encompasses historical and devout forms of protest to analyze relatively undiscovered dimensions of personal and communal actions undertaken by oppressed men and women (Araujo, 2013). The researchers study slave revolts, fugitive slave societies, slave and reformist relationships, and African religious cultures, using a variety of historical documents and treating resistance from an Atlantic viewpoint.
Generally, the purpose of the study was to evaluate the history of suppression in the western world and the various forms that were implemented to resist the oppression. The research method implemented in the study was secondary data analysis which involves using already existing data. Several articles have been incorporated and analyzed in the study to increase the overall effectiveness of the research. The article notes that primary sources were another research method that was used. "…appropriate tools to interpret primary…, using several kinds of primary sources…" (Araujo, 2013). Following the analysis of several articles, the results of the research incorporated a discovery that the role of Africa in the edifice of the slave revolution was ignored; the articles note that most book-length analyses hardly mention the importance of ordinary methods of personal and group struggle as the sole effective uprising in the Americas. Consequently, despite their importance, these publications fail to cover sociocultural modes of oppression or the role of women in a slave rebellion.
Since it is difficult to respond to such a large problem within a specific area, an integrative perspective is critical to answering my research question. To give specifics, I will have to combine data from numerous fields and integrate them into a cohesive, well-informed conclusion. As a result, sociology, anthropology, history, African American studies, and Southern studies are all significant fields in the research. Sociology is one of the disciples because the article "Islamic Atlantic Revolution" incorporated in the paper explores how Fulani Jihad transmuted the slave vocation in the West African expanse. On the other hand, anthropology and history are also included because the study demonstrates that throughout the first centuries of the nineteenth era, insurgencies led primarily by Hausa, and specifically, Yoruba-speaking oppressed and liberated people in Bahia and Cuba were directly linked to their African heritage and profoundly intertwined with the Fulani Jihad (Araujo, 2013). Finally, the disciple of African American studies is clear in the study whereby instead of focusing on cultural and religious resistance.
The research has revealed that both unsubtle and hidden revolutionary movements have distinguished slavery's existence. Slaves publicly defied their white owners by ...
