The June, 2022 article titled Brain Changes May Be Hallmark of Anorexia by Robert Preidt highlights the latest developments in understanding anorexia through focusing on the changes in the brain. The article highlights the latest discoveries in how the brain changes for people suffering from anorexia nervosa. Specifically, there are distinct changes to cortical thickness; subcortical volumes; and cortical surface area (Preidt, 2022). Looking at the bigger picture, these changes play a key role in explaining the other symptoms that such patients manifest, such as weight loss. It is a new development that will prove useful when it comes to understanding and management of anorexia.
