This assessment item is designed to support you in learning how to retrieve, summarise, synthesise and evaluate sources of literature such as academic journal articles, book chapters and government websites, used for researching public health issues. This assessment aims to develop important academic skills for life-long learning. You will continue to develop and improve these skills throughout your time at university and in your professional career.
Length
2000 words (± 10%) annotated bibliography not including the words used to display the citation.

What you need to do An annotated bibliography
At the beginning of the unit you will be allocated to a team and assigned a current public health topic (our team chooses climate change). For this assessment, you are required to locate:
a) Two peer-reviewed academic journal articles (found via a library database such as PubMed)
b) One book chapter from an edited book (an edited book contains chapters usually written by different authors collected in one book by an editor(s)). You cannot select chapters from any recommended textbook for this unit for this assessment
c) One webpage from a reputable source (e.g. Australian government or peak body organisation)
relevant to the topic assigned to your team. Our team chooses climate change. Please use it within 10 years of articles and if you can please use Australia's resources because I am studying in here.
For this part of the assessment, you should follow the library guidelines for writing an annotated bibliography found at http://www(dot)citewrite(dot)qut(dot)edu(dot)au/write/annotatedbibliography.jsp.
Before you start this assessment item, you should familiarise yourself with the Assessment 1 Grading Criteria and make sure you address all criteria. 
For each source you need to do the following:

Summarise the research findings or the main arguments or ideas presented by the author/s in your selected source. The purpose of the summary is to offer a quick and easy snapshot of the content of the source in your own words.
Evaluate the source, that is, is the source accurate? Reliable? Current? Is the author/s qualified and expert in the field? Is the text descriptive or analytical? What evidence has the author(s) used to support their ideas?
Reflect about how useful you found this source to be. Did it add to your understanding of the public health topic? How did it help your learning? Was it easy to read? Are there any useful references (or links in the case of the webpage) to follow up?
