Healthcare workers are increasingly adopting Electronic Health Records (EHR), enhancing healthcare quality due to better access to patients' details. The benefits associated with EHR outweigh the harm or safety risks that could occur. Nevertheless, some health workers are still determining EHR usability. This annotated bibliography highlights relevant concepts of EHR.

This research used a qualitative exploratory method to study EHR impacts in hospitals. The study explored nurses' perceptions of how EHR affects patient safety. According to Tubaishat (2019), EHR systems improve patient safety by improving documentation, clinical decision-making, and care continuity, reducing medication errors, and enhancing data accessibility, availability, completeness, and sustainability. Nevertheless, EHR raises specific concerns, such as cost, technical and usability problems, patient safety risks like data security and confidentiality, and data entry problems. However, ensuring proper EHR system design and human use can mitigate the associated concerns, enhancing effective care delivery and patients' health outcomes (Tubaishat, 2019). This article is credible because the author has a credible work background in adult health nursing, which uses EHR. In addition, the article's publication date is 2019, thus within the current timelines. The article will provide vital insights into the final project regarding EHR in healthcare and patient safety. For instance, the systems can improve patient safety by managing and integrating data into the workflow.

This study investigated usability problems of EHR in emergency departments, reflecting the challenges among healthcare workers.
