Debate On Global Climate Change

Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date Debate on global climate change Global Climate change has been a contentious discussion among significant stakeholders in the world. These heated debates revolve around a stream of assertions or whether the climate is changing or it is not, whether carbon dioxide causes global warming or whether human interventions can be rooted to the change in the climate patterns. According to Kelman (13), global climate change refers to the seasonal weather changes over some time due to the continuous accumulation of greenhouses in the atmosphere. Climate change is associated with the long-term weather variation in rainfall, temperatures, and wind and other climatic patterns (Scheffran, 869).The climate changes can be rooted to either the external forces of the earth such as volcano eruptions, earthquakes or human activities due to the deforestation, pollution due to the emission of greenhouses gases, leading to the ecological imbalance as well as disappearances of animal and plant species (Macintosh, 200). In spite of the distinctive evidence in climate change due to human activities, it is unfortunate that there are still individuals oppose the fact change to human-based climate change. In the current world, the temperature has risen with an approximate to 1.80 F over the past century. The change can be inclined to the increase in the level of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrous dioxide and methane (Randall, 130). Nevertheless, both sides are in agreement to the fact there has been a significant change in climate patterns (Scheffran, 869). It is evident that the world has experienced climate variations such as warmer or colder periods in the past without any interferences from humans. For instance, the decline in ice have been the significant indication of the change in the climate. Moreover, environmental changes such as medieval warm periods, where less sea ice and larger areas of cultivated land in Iceland (Scheffran, 869). However, scientist argues that the continued increase in the global temperatures cannot be accounted to the natural aspects only. The climate change is a multifaceted component, associated especially by the changes in the earth sun patterns. Even though the stakeholders could take these factors into considerations, it would hard still explain the temperatures rises that have been over the past decades in both land and oceans (Macintosh, 203). For instance, the periods between 2014 and 2018 have been recorded to be the hottest periods in the past 120 years; however, proportionate temperatures were observed for the periods between, 1990 and 2000. These opinions form the basis of argument, whether what are the factors that are increasing the average global temperatures. Natural greenhouse help keep the earth around 300C warmer than it would on their absence. Usually, these gases function as protective layer to the ground. The gases permits the sun’s rays to reach the world apparent at a regulated level, as well as preventing the heat created by the beams on earth to escape back to space (Knur, 50).
