Assessing the squadrons' health statuses is among the increasingly tricky moments that the new commanders or leaders face as part of their duties. Because, in most cases, the command tours usually last for about two years, it is always vital to consider logical evaluations in an appropriate timeframe to establish goals and fix problems quickly and conveniently as required (Smith, 2015). Newcomer and Connelly (2018) also supports that assessing an organization (like a squadron) is an essential element for performance improvement. One of the most critical strengths of my unit is the positive working atmosphere and morale among the squadron members and the availability of all tools needed for various operations. However, the weakness is common fatigue among the members resulting in less productivity. Though fatigue is typical, there is a need to find a long-term solution to this problem. I believe making correct assessments to establish strengths and weaknesses is necessary otherwise, as a leader, I might spend most of my leadership term fixing wrong challenges.
Unit New Path Recommendation
Every unit under new commander leadership requires a new and unique path with distinctive characteristics preferably. As the incoming commander of the current unit, I inevitably need to recommend a path for the unit to follow under my leadership. Most importantly, I can consider and guarantee effective direction through various significant actions. Specifically, as the leader, I will assign easy and challenging tasks to the subordinates, guarantee regular training to accomplish the assigned duties effectively, and locate and distribute the required resources to perform the specific tasks at hand. To demonstrate my effectiveness as a leader, I would also consider developing an understanding and trustworthy environment that inspires the subordinate staff to act appropriately and collaborate efficiently to produce the desired outcomes.
Secondly, creating a new vision will also be a significant component of the new path. My unit's vision statement will be: "To create an enabling environment for every unit member through providing relevant resources, tools, and training to get the tasks done appropriately and timely." According to Bill (2007), vision is long-term, a crucial element within contemporary corporate reasoning, progressively estimated using the time perspective.
