Work Environment Assessment
The organization’s work environment assessment produces a civility score of 37 on the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory. According to the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory, a score less than 50 reflects a very unhealthy workplace or working environment for nurses. The response to the inventory’s 20 statements defining a healthy work environment indicates that half of them do not apply to the organization. There is no single statement that fully applies to the organization and thus rendering it a very unhealthy workplace for nurses and other health care providers within the organization.
One of the surprises from the assessment was that the organization has low levels of employee satisfaction despite offering competitive remuneration packages. It is also perplexing that the organization does not recognize its employees as valuable assets even though it encourages the celebration of individual and collective achievements among nurses within the organization. Before the assessment, I firmly believed that effective communication was an integral element for sustainable growth and development of health care organizations and thus an essential aspect of a healthy work environment. The assessment shows that the organization lacks an effective communication approach reflecting a very unhealthy nursing workplace, as indicated by the low civility score.

Hence, results from the assessment indicate that the organization’s work environment features intimidating and undesirable interactions and behaviors among nurses CITATION Gri14 \l 1033 (Griffin, 2014).
