Developing Organizational Policies and Practices
The nursing shortage is a common problem that requires effective policies and practices to timely manage. The nursing shortage is causing many problems in the United States since most nurses play a significant role in streamlining the health standard in the country. There is continuous research on the suitable design and framework to curb the nursing shortage problem (Abhicharttibutra et al., 2017). The county and federal government and working around the clock to ensure any emerging issues caused by nursing shortage are timely addressed. Nursing shortage can only be addressed by reliable policies and practices to curb high mortality or comorbidity rate. Therefore, the paper addresses key competing needs that impact the nursing shortage and the key policies that can be used to address the problem.
Two Competing Needs Impacting Nurse Shortage
The key competing need that heavily impacts the nursing shortage is an aging population. There is an increased rate in the number of the aging population, which requires adequate and timely monitoring and cannot successfully be accommodated by the present number of medics. Besides, an increasing number of retiring nurses are not adequately replaced. Therefore, there is a need to embrace a reliable framework to address the emerging problems and causes of nursing shortages.

The program is essential since it will prevent the issues of nursing shortage and turnover leading to nursing problems. Whenever new nurses come into the organization, the level of satisfaction plays a key role in whether they will remain in the organization. Besides, the level of satisfaction determines whether a nurse would consider other organizations or work with the current organization. The onboarding program would allow all the nurses to work actively in their roles and avoid an increased turnover rate. Also, it would be easy to ensure an effective transition into nurse responsibilities that are not overwhelming or create a harsh environment with new nurses and graduates.
