The implementation of Computerized EBP
Evidence-based practice has become an important aspect of the nursing practice. Over the years, nurses have realized that developing an integrated system of dealing with the problem of the patients offers a better solution to healthcare. The author looks at the role of evidence-based practice in the nursing care. There is much information on how the aspect has developed over the years. However, one of the most significant problems that many of the authors today have not focused on is the idea of the implementation of the system. Today there is a shift from the usual development, validation and use of various sources of knowledge on clinical trials. In the new change, there is the use of contextual data, reference databases, clinical information and data repositories. The authors thus offer a better overview of how EBP is implemented.
The new shift in the implementation of EBP focuses on the use of information systems. Information systems include reference databases, clinical data repositories, and internet-based interactive health information (Roberto, 2010). The new shift in the use of evidence offers intricate knowledge on the challenges in the nursing practice and the best approach that can be taken to improve the patient problems. Reference databases contain formal scientific and technical literature about the health interventions that are more reliable in the nursing practice. Contextual and case-specific information deals with information that is both related to the social-economic, environmental and epidemiological factors. Such information is also based on the current and past encounters with the health system care. Clinical data a repository is where data is captured and stored in a computer-based health records. This approach is more effective in providing real-time data about the current health issues. Internet-based interactive health information is also effective in the implementation of EBP.
The approaches to implementing EBP
Though the application of evidence-based practice is still a big challenge, there are some things that nurses might use to make it effective. One of the approaches to dealing with this issue is the redesigning the clinical record
