Any story. Afraid of the Darkness. Three minutes speech

Framework:

Storytelling is a traditional skill in many of our cultures, but on this course it holds a special place: a story is more than just a story, it relates to every aspect of Speaking with Confidence.

Stories may stand alone, they may be used to entertain, to persuade, or to teach a lesson. They are often used as an ingredient in a powerful presentation.

This is the first opportunity for you to perform a prepared story successfully to your audience, and it's a major step towards a successful final speech.

Guidelines:

➢ Think of a story that you think will be interesting to your classmates.
You may choose a true story or a made-up story, it may be a personal story, it may have happened to someone else.

➢ In order to be effective, your story needs a structure, ideally a beginning, middle and end.

➢ Fill your story with juicy details, they are always more interesting than a list of dry sequential facts.

➢ A story is more than just a description, something needs to happen.

➢ You may use notes, but use them as a backup, not a script.

➢ You may use a prop or a single picture to enhance the story experience.

➢ The target length for your story is 3 minutes. Your professor may inform you of other guidelines, such as a minimum or maximum length.
