Steve Jobs
Technology icon and founder of Apple made various speeches in the 21st century, but his speech in 2005 during the Stanford commencement address was fascinating. Having undergone numerous obstacles in his quest to provide better computer and handset technology, this 2005 speech captures his’ never die’ spirit. Apple is now a household name in America, but much of this visibility is a reflection of Jobs’ business acumen and attention in detail in designing products. To further lay emphasize on his viewpoint, the speech takes the audience through a journey chronicling earlier setbacks and eventual successes in the world of technology. In this address, following one’s passion does not necessarily translate to success, but being both consistent and persistent facilitates achieving one’s ambitions and goals.
Steve Jobs acknowledged the role of education in the society, but he was a college drop out and his parent’s financial situation convinced him that higher education probably did not have much value to him. Steve Jobs was an adopted child, after his mother gave him up for adoption having being young and not married to Steve Job’s biological father. To begin with the mother changed her mind on the choice of adopting parents upon learning that the adopting parents did not have college education. Nonetheless, she changed her mind based on the promise that the adoptive parents would later take Jobs to College.
