There are various music concepts, including Dalcroze, Orff, and Kodaly. These concepts aim to equip populations of different ages with specific music skills. The method used in teaching the concepts depends on the participators’ ages and the aim of the learning practice. Thus, the learning process must consider these factors to ensure the achievement of the expected results. Although Dalcroze, Orff, and Kodaly’s music concepts incorporate different teaching approaches, they all aim at equipping learners with basic and improved skills in music.
Dalcroze
Dalcroze is a playful education process in music learning. The teachers use experiential approaches to teach learners this type of music. They engage rhythmic movements, ear training, and improvisation to awaken, develop and refine innate musicality (Dalcroze Society of America, 2020). The rhythmic movements in Dalcroze music are referred to as eurhythmics. The unique approach in this music makes it evocative to everyone, from beginners to professionals. Dalcroze music is taught and practiced by people of all ages, from children to adults (Dalcroze Society of America, 2021). The performers, teachers, dancers, actors, young children, seniors, and people participating in the music gain various benefits. The musicians develop a stronger sense of rhythm and harmony and improve their skills and intuition. Dancers in the classes refine their non-verbal expression, learn essential music concepts and enhance their aesthetic development (Dalcroze Society of America, 2021). Also, the seniors improve their coordination and balance and strengthen memory function.
Orff
