The concept that dietary pattern and lifestyle may have metabolic impacts on body composition in terms of caloric content has attracted attention from researchers. Specifically, glycemic index (the degree to which the serum glucose concentrations are increased by a food) has been identified as potential factor that affect body composition (Milne et al. 2017; Бlvarez-Pйrez et al. 2016; Galan-Lopez et al. 2018). Increasing the amount of insulin in the body for a longer time contributes to foods that have high GI affecting particular metabolic processes like lipogenesis, lipolysis, or substrate oxidation (Palau-Rodriguez et al. 2020; Stephenson et al. 2018). Such processes consequently affect satiety, hunger, energy expenditure, or food intake. These factors could affect body composition and energy balance.
Besides affecting body weight, lifestyle and dietary pattern also affects energy partitioning in regard to the amount of mass of fat in relation to the fat-free mass which is lost or deposited in the body (Dнaz-Rizzolo et al. 2020; Bhatt et al. 2016). Such lifestyles like consuming diets with high GL and elevated response of insulin resulting from the same may contribute to such changes in body composition as preserving fat mass as a result of the lipogenic actions associated with insulin. Further, dietary pattern may also impact the particular location of the fat which is mobilized or deposited. Findings from previous studies have shown that such dietary patterns and lifestyles as consuming foods with lower GI contributes to a smaller waist, although this is also influenced by gender. However, the overall findings show that dietary patterns and lifestyle affect body composition.
Therefore, the overall aim of this study is to assess the effect of dietary pattern and lifestyle on body composition. The study seeks to evaluate how the two factors influence the body composition of the involved participants. Random sampling will be used to select participants who are willing to participate in the study. Data collection will be done through semi-str...
