CITY DESIGN PLANNING AND ARCHITECTURE
The design of the cities in the ancient days prior the Second World War has great difference from the structures afterwards. Most of the structures that existed before the World War II were rejected after the period (O’Connor, 57). These cities were initially built traditionally with low-rise buildings, but after the war , the urban land supported the taller buildings development, which were firm structured that were enabled by the technological improvements. Projects were put in place to ensure the older temporary and unpleasant structures have been demolished to pave way for the modern ones. Several issues can distinguish the City Design approaches before and after the Second World War.
The cities of the chronicles of the Second World War were barely in good shape and their structures were worn out, especially for the poor where structures were slums (Hartman, 86). The exploration of the various parts of the world by veterans may have led to the need for improvements in their own land. They discovered that the structures of their cities appeared outdated and weak and thus decided to change the disastrous condition of their cities for better. During the earlier days before the Second World War, the cities were in bad shape and the nature of political system was ineffective, contributing to such poor city structures. In addition, the cities represented decades of depression, years of neglect, as well as political feuding generation between newcomers and natives who had possessed their toll. Cities such as Boston were in deplorable state without any sign of a better or developed future.
Thus, the veterans of the new generation of World War II decided to put a stop to the situation.
