Pierce, Glenn L., Michael L. Radelet, and Susan Sharp have examined 4, 668 homicide cases that happened in Oklahoma with an identified suspect. These cases occurred between 1990 and 2012. The authors also state that 153 cases ended with death but the race of the offender did not correlate with the death sentence. The authors have also used logic regression analysis to understand some of the causes of these homicide cases. The United States has the highest number of incarcerated individuals. Today, there are approximately 2.3 million people in the country. I will use it to demonstrate my point of why there are high rates of incarceration in the U.S, particularly Oklahoma.

The authors state that there more than 2.3 million people who have been imprisoned in state prisons. This article by Sawyer Wendy and Wagner Peter also examines why people are getting imprisoned and also tries to get rid of some modern myths to focus on the real drivers of mass incarceration in the U.S. Sawyer Wendy and Wagner Peter have also examined the five myths of mass incarceration in the U.S.

The article examines why the state of Oklahoma was intending to release 462 inmates in the largest single-day commutation in American History. Lopez German states that Oklahoma is a state in America that has the highest rates of mass incarceration. Over the past few years, the Republicans and the Democrats have pushed to reduce incarceration and also release inmates to avoid overcrowding in the prisons. Lopez German states that the American Criminal Justice system is characterized by racial disparities and the minority Americans are more likely to get incarcerated. I will use this article elaborate more on why there is mass incarceration in Oklahoma,

The article by Berman has examined some of the Statutory Reforms in the state of Oklahoma that have led to racial disparities and mass incarceration. According to Berman, there are more blacks than Whites on the state and local prisons. Black men have been targeted they the systems on crimes like homicide, drug trafficking, and murder. This kind of perception by the criminal justice system has resulted in high rates of mass incarceration in the United States.
