Writing Project #2: Proposing a Solution Research Paper

Research Paper Instructions:

This paper is aiming to address a food-related problem on UCSD campus and find a solution for it. This paper requires to read the UC Global Food Initiative (GFI) before you start writing the paper.
PLEASE follow along the 3rd attachment(the slides of requirements about this paper) and the general prompt attachment. A decent grade will be given by the professor if those requirements are met!
Also, please be VERY specific with the addressed problem!
You can skip the acknowledgement part!
Attachments:
1. Paper prompt
2. Global Food Initiative (GFI)
3. Instructions and requirements from the professor.

Basic requirements: 5-6 page paperIn introduction need to clearly state
The problem to be solved ("a significant, food-related problem that needs to be addressed on our campus or in a local or regional community")
The problem can be anything you want, as long as it fits that definition
The problem must be jSPECIFIG enough that it is possible to evaluate whether proposed solutions will succeed or fail
Easy way to lose points and get a lower grade: Problem is not specific enough
The introduction should also briefly state the proposed solution in one or 2 sentences.Basic requirements: 5-6 page paper‘After the introduction, you will need to fully explain what the problem is and why a solution is needed.
For this you can rely on sources. Make sure to anticipate any obvious questions that might arise in the reader's mind.
Explain these as thoroughly as you can in about 1 page or so. At this point, you should not yet be going into your proposed solution.
The part of the paper where you are explaining the problem should be SEPARATE FROM the remainder of the problem where you are proposing the solution.Basic requirements: 5-6 page paper• After you explain the problem, you will need to explain your solution in detail, and argue in favor of it.
Here, you need to make it clear what your solution IS and what it IS NOT.
You will need to argue for ALL of the following:
How will it solve (or significantly improve) the problem? I.e., what are the criteria and how does it meet those criteria?
why is it a practical, feasible solution (i.e., not only one that can address the problem, but one that is not too inefficient, too costly, too unrealistic, etc.)
How and why is it better than other possible solutions? Compare your approach to at least 2 similar possible approaches This part of your paper doesn't need to be more than about 1 page or so.Basic requirements: 5-6 page paper
After you have provided your arguments, you need to consider at least 2 objections.
These should be the strongest, most effective objections you can think of, that cannot be responded to by merely restating things from earlier in the paper or by saying things that are obvious.
You need to not merely state each objection, but also explain it and explain why it is a strong objection that seems to effectively shoot down your proposal at first.
You will need to provide your response to the objections: For each objection, raise new considerations that go beyond what is obvious (here you can rely on sources) to respond to the objection.Basic requirements: 5-6 page paper• Once you've done all of this, your paper can have a conclusion. It doesn't need to be more than 'A page.
The conclusion can resummarize the main points in different words or briefly reflect on some consequence of your proposal that has not already been discussed yet.

SOLUTION FOR INTERCULTURAL FOOD SCARCITY IN UCSD
Name:
Institution:
Date:
Problem Description
UCSD is a highly racially and ethnically diverse institution with high numbers of international students living in the campus. However, the meals available to the students within the campus are mainly American. Thus, most international students are unable to enjoy their native delicacies while in UCSD. It is very difficult to switch from your native cuisine to American cuisine as an international student and most international students find themselves missing meals or having to travel far from the campus to enjoy a good home country cuisine. As an international student myself, I always miss those delicious dishes from my hometown, and absolutely wanting to taste them once in a while here in San Diego. Despite the variety of foods offered in the dining hall on the UCSD campus, there are not really authentic dishes out there from different cultural backgrounds. This problem is not just happening to me, but all other international students living on our campus. Since it is impractical for UCSD administration to ensure that all international students can get their favorite dishes from their respective countries in UCSD, then they can facilitate the travel of these students to places where they can find such dishes. The good news is that we have many excellent Chinese, Indian, Japanese, etc. Restaurants are opened throughout the San Diego County. The most cost-efficient and beneficial solution for this particular problem is to provide shuttles that take students to those restaurants.
Solution
The best solution for this problem is to let UCSD provide special shuttles going to those plazas that have great intercultural restaurants. The shuttles should be offering a round-trip from UCSD to the food plaza. For instance, Convoy is a street located about 10 miles south from UCSD where all types of restaurants are concentrated closely, which includes Japanese restaurants, Korean restaurants, and Chinese restaurants. The shuttles are better offered on the weekends at dinner time. The shuttles provide students that are living on campus who do not drive cars to have a direct opportunity tasting food from their own culture once in a while conveniently. It is the simplest, most cost-efficient and students welcomed solution so far. Although opening up more restaurants on the campus can solve this problem, it would require much more time and cost input at the same time. Another alternative possible solution for this problem would be offering students Uber credits to go to those restaurants. This is not considered a good solution overall because it could be very difficult to manage who and how much ride credits should be given to the students. The cost would be excessively high if ride credits are offered to all students, while only giving to international students will result in inequity.
Reasons
The main reason why should the school provide special shuttles from the campus to food plazas while we have a goo...
