"The Lottery" and "A Good Man Is Hard to Find"
Different authors in the literary languages have used different instances of modernism in developing certain teachings through short stories. There are different stories that have been created and written with the idea and concept of gaining modernism through accumulation and illustration of certain different traits in the community. The society in literature has been used to comprise and implement different instances of teaching people and leaders about the contemporary and emerging issues in the community. Therefore, it is in the application of literature and its many styles that old men and women in the society used to learn, before the development of modern education systems, (Jackson 2008). Although this is essential in governing and determining the history of our lives and origins, some traditions that have been depicted through various practices, lack the necessity of supporting family modernism, courtesy and unity organization. The Lottery as a short story, presents the concept of tradition and its many customs that have are being practiced in the modern community, but the society do not understand the foundation and its many meanings, (Jackson 2008). Consequently, the practice of the lottery being carried every month and in the city square is unique; but what about the black box that has been changed from generation to generation, even the old man does not know when it was found. Therefore, the community of the lottery embraces their own tradition and past. However, "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," is another short story that explains a lot about the modernism that has wrecked the tradition and teachings of the past, (O'Connor, 2009). The grandmother is another symbolic reason and occurrence that defines the difference and creation of time difference. This is another important topic that is used to showcase the religious teachings of the past and of Jesus. In this regard, this essay argues that "The Lottery" offers a deeper insight into the modern embrace of tradition and customs; whereas "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," portrays lack of respect for societal values and morals.
The Lottery develops its traditions and religion of following and believing in tradition and what it offers in moral concepts. The difference here is that the families, kids and old people of the community are all going into the region of the lottery. This is a concept that supports both the religion and tradition. The congregation is offered support and efficiency through the development and allocation of work in the society.
