Qsn: How did the terrorist attacks of 9/11 affect the United States at the dawn of the 21st century?
Introduction
The 9/11 terrorist attack on US was a series of four suicide attacks by the Islamist militant group, Al-Qaeda. The attack killed nearly 3,000 people and negatively affected the economy of the US. It propagated the US government to launch a war on terror which has also had great economic impact to the US as a whole. The destruction of the Twin Towers caused a lot of serious damages to the economy of Lower Manhattan while at the same time negatively impacting the global markets (Damico, Quay and Sara, 2010).
The September 11th attack had significant impacts on the US economy and the world markets at large. Immediately after the attack, the stock exchanges remained closed for about one week that resulted into a loss of about $1.4 trillion in valuation during the period.
