ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY ON A CURRENT AND CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC IN SOCIAL SCIENCE RESEARCH
Social science is a scientific study that focuses on human beings society and their relationship. The relationship activities between the two affect the normal ways human beings are living in society. They aim at improving the lives of the people in the community but also they end up affecting the behavior of the people. They involve activities like economics and politics (Habernal,2017). This field has a variety of branches and works out in a way the current world has come up with a certain reaction on how social science research is being carried.
The controversies come in contraction of the ethics on how the people should carry themselves around. They thus end up in locking horns between themselves because the social science activities look like the contradictions the topic raised in society. For instance, the abortion topic has actively been condemned in society, but when it comes to social science, they advocate for abortion under certain conditions. Thus, it is not adding up what society teaches and what the social science contradicts (Habernal,2017). Thus this paper is aiming at explaining the current and controversial topics in social science research. The social science must adhere to the daily teachings.
Anthropology
Anthropology is a scientific study that aims to elaborate and give a specific understanding of humans and their behaviors in their societies from the past to the present time. The anthropology is divided into subjections for easier and understanding of how it works. The two branches are social anthropology, cultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology.
Social anthropology deals with the study of social, cultural norms in society. It is mainly focusing itself with the activities that human beings engaged in as they interacted with the others in society. It has a historical root that has existed over the years such as the stories that are passed from generation to generation. They were taken from the previous societies then taken to the next societies through the studies taken down and recorded for the next generation to access. They go together with the cultural anthropology, but also they differ in some aspects. Cultural anthropology focuses on the culture of the people that are targeted. For the targeted communities they studied on in-depth, then anthropology comes in to explain the behavior of the people to the society.
They focus on the narratives, rituals and other symbolic behavior of what the people do in their daily lives. The people who do this study mainly focus on the economic and political organization of the culture, the law and social norms governing the behavior and the family structure and patterns. Thus the activities and the behavior of the people in society are studied over time and the changes explained by anthropologists.
