            Total Quality Management Name Institution                             Total Quality Management Overview of SABIC             SABIC was formed in 1976 to enrich the Saudi Arabia’s natural hydrocarbon resources. At the present, SABIC is among the most prominent petrochemical company as far as sales and product diversity is concerned. With its headquarters in Riyadh, SABIC is considered to be the largest non-oil industrial company in the Middle East in relation to market capitalization. At the present, the SABIC’s market capitalization stands at over US$100 billion and assets valued at US$33 billion. Apart from this, SABIC is also an affiliate of three regional ventures that are headquartered in Bahrain. The company has a subsidiary in Europe, SABIC Europe Petrochemical (SEP) that came into existence after the buyout of the petrochemicals business of Dutch Group DSM. The manufacturing locations of SEP are currently in the Netherlands and Germany (Meridium, 2016).             SABIC came into existence out of the Saudi Arabian aspirations of positioning itself as a developing nation. SABIC has since its inception played a very important role in fulfilling the Saudi Arabian aspirations. The company has specifically been very instrumental in the growth of the nation’s human resources. SABIC is also loyal to the Saudi social and cultural norms and global business and environmental standards. The Saudi government has 70% of the shares at SABIC and the private sector has the remaining 30%. The private shareholders are drawn from Saudi Arabia and other six nations from the region (Al-Otaibi et al, 2006).
