To what extent do people believe that children learn their first language through imitation and correction.

Respondents
The number of respondents for this particular research was 15. Six of the participants were men while the other nine were women. Eight of the 15 participants were parents, three were non-parents but babysitters, and the remaining four were teachers. The age of the participants was between 22 and 50 years.
Given the statement Children learn their first language through imitation and correction, the following were the answers.
Parents – of the 8 parents, 3 (first-time parents) said that children learn their first language through imitation and correction while the remaining 5 did agree as well that children learn their first language through imitation and correction. However, they also insisted that language is innate or inbuilt and partly agreed.
Babysitters – all the babysitters were not parents. One said that they were not sure while the remaining two partly agreed that children learn language through imitation and correction.
Teachers – of the four teachers, three were parents. In giving their response, however, they all disagreed with the notion that children learn through imitation and correction. In their argument, they all said that there are some loopholes in the explanation of how children learn their first language.
