According to Anna Cierpka, Karolina Małek and Magdalena Horodeńska, despite major improvements in the physical condition of patients after the heart transplant, most of them struggle with serious mental problems or psychological distress (Cierpka et al. 2015). This study aims to explore the experiences of adult patients after heart transplantation in order to understand their problems in a better way.
Eight adults, aging from 50 to 60, were requested to appear for unstructured, in-depth interviews. All of them underwent a heart transplant twelve months before the research was started. Their responses were recorded in the form of text, and all of the interviews were tape recorded in order to ensure the validity and accuracy of data at a later stage (Cierpka et al. 2015). Narrative methods were then used to analyze the unstructured information gathered through these interviews.
