For EACH of the commercials you described, try to guess the segment that was targeted by the advertisement. Was the marketer targeting potential customers based on geographic, demographic, psychological, or behavioral segments (or a combination of any/all of the four)?
Note that if you did not submit Written Response #3, you cannot receive credit for it now-- however, you can get full credit for Written Response #4. Complete questions 1-2 for Written Response #3 (part 1), and answer the questions above for each of the advertisements (in part 2).
****Text of Written Response #3****
Watch a cable channel that you would not ordinarily watch, and pay attention to a total of 3 commercials which air on this channel. In your response, please do the following for each of the commercials:
1) Identify the time and channel you are watching.
2) identify the products/brand being advertised. Describe the advertisement in enough detail that you will be able to remember the commercial later. You will need to remember each commercial for the next Written Response, so please be sure to include details to help you remember.
3) Guess what general 'type' of person is being targeted by the advertisement. (Gender? Age? Personality type? etc.)
Please do NOT use hulu or youtube for this exercise. If you don’t have access to a TV, pick up a magazine you wouldn’t ordinarily read and do the same exercise for at least 5 of these advertisements. (You could, for instance, go to the grocery store or bookstore and flip through some magazines.)

The ads appear on ABC between 6 PM and 9 PM on Friday. These ads broadcast are through television and there are later internet ads that are longer version and follow up. The Culligan water test ad, “Culligan TV Commercial Ads 2019 Your Whole Home Drinks in Home Water Test Commercial Ad” is 15 seconds highlights relevance to pet drinks, skin drinks and pasta drinks as part of the whole home drinks. The product is advertised as an alternative to the home water test. The Ford Escape TV Commercial s 2019 Escape Commercial is 15 seconds and advertises the car as one that is affordable since there is a ‘low lease cost’ when there is a Presidents Day Sales event and the ad shows a red colored ford at $159.10 24 month lease and customers can contact the Ford dealers. The third ad is “Adidas Ultraboost 19 TV Commercial, 'More Energy” and the 30 second ad focuses on the new shoe, and emphasizes it is comfortable for running and shows young people from different backgrounds running and since running takes a lot of energy the company’s designees have looked into ways to enhance improve performance.
The water testing kit mostly target homeowners and people with families, as the product is used in the house and shows a family with children and a dog pet. The ad targets both male and female parents, especially, those who are likely to be particular about hygiene and are in the middle income. The Ford ad targets car lease companies and young workers who are working and require a car for transportation, and the car company emphasizes that there are low lease costs, which are favorable.
