How is the Nature and Evolution of the Universe Intimately Connected to Life on Earth?

Research Paper Instructions:

take a stance and construct an argument to support your position;
• Use elements of SCIENTIFIC reasoning, such as evidence, logic, plausibility, and falsifiability—consider how you would justify your position to a friend;
• Point out weaknesses in your argument, and suggest alternative possibilities.
Extra:
The two main goals of these RRs are scientific literacy (improving your skills at researching and thinking about big questions in a scientific way) and reflection (how your research impacted—or not—your personal worldview). These are broken down into the following partial rubric (see full rubric on LEARN):
a. Scientific Content
i. Diverse viewpoints considered/alternative hypotheses suggested.
ii. Depth and/or breadth of scientific knowledge/understanding displayed.
iii. Content cited from at least two relevant, scientifically credible sources.
b. Critical Thinking
i. Weaknesses assessed: doubts raised; assumptions/evidence/biases questioned.
ii. Arguments posed or evaluated based on logic/evidence/plausibility/falsifiability.
iii. Appropriate conclusions drawn from the arguments.
c. Reflection
i. Implications beyond the original question discussed (context/bigger picture).
ii. Deeper or more specific additional questions raised.
iii. Impact (or not) on personal worldview articulated.
Please see the attached sample and rubric.
Thanks

How is the Nature and Evolution of the Universe Intimately Connected to Life on Earth?
Over the years, individuals have been fascinated by the nature and evolution of the universe and its connection to the universe. Life has also been an area of concern where individuals seek to know the origin of life and its future. Does life exist in itself, or is it connected to the nature and evolution of the universe? This is a significant question that scientists have tried to answer using the available evidence. Different scientists have used a different approach to deny or approve the existence of such a connection. More evidence shows a connection between the nature and evolution of the universe and life on earth.
The universe has evolved to become more hospitable towards life. The availability of water is a critical component demonstrating that the earth has become more hospitable with time. It is impossible to determine the exact time when water came into existence on earth. At the same time, the origin of the earth’s water remains unknown. Some studies indicate that the early Earth was dry. Water came later as a result of the meteorites and comets that fell on the Earth in its earlier days. However, Piani and others (2020) study denies such a possibility. Instead, the researchers point to the possibility of Earth's water being inherited from material resembling enstatite chondrite. The scientists demonstrate that water may have originated from the hydrogen and oxygen already available on the Earth’s building blocks. Because of the availability of water, the Earth was habitable about 4.4 billion years ago. Geological evidence demonstrates that terrestrial microbes were already present about 3.8 billion years ago. At this time, the single-celled organisms survived in an unbreathable atmosphere.
However, about 2.4 billion years ago, the Great Oxidation took place and populated the atmosphere with oxygen in its molecular form. The emergence of breathable oxygen was first a poison, then later an antidote. Oxygen led to the extinction of the existing terrestrial life since oxygen acted as a poison. The reaction of oxygen with methane resulted in carbon dioxide and water. The presence of carbon dioxide caused a change in climate that had dominated the earth in ice for more than 300 million years. Hence, while oxygen caused the extinction of early terrestrial life, it led to the emergence of more complex organisms. Breathable oxygen was a turning point in the evolution of organisms since it gave rise to multicellular organisms and the explosion of life as we know it today.
Nonetheless, the evolution and nature of the universe do not account for many processes connected to life and its origin. ...
