The two selected energy opportunities suitable for the Nunavik location are hydropower and wind power. The first opportunity is hydropower. The location, Nunavik, is characterized by rugged terrain numerous rivers, and the climate is cold and harsh. It is these natural features that make the energy opportunity suitable for Nunavik to develop hydropower generation. An example is the use of river hydro systems, which consistently rely on the flow of river rates. Where rivers are flowing at good rates, then that is an opportunity to tap on and ensure that the flow is used in powering the hydro systems and generating energy. It is a safe energy resource as the emissions to the environment will be minimal. Further, it aids in the reduction of carbon footprints emitted to the atmosphere.
The second energy opportunity is wind power. It is suitable for implementation in the Nunavik location. It is suitable, especially in the areas that have optimal wind patterns. The rugged terrain and the cold weather are associated with wind, and wind power can be tapped in these regions to help with energy generation. When wind power is tapped in these regions, the advantage is that it can help in harnessing power, and there will be a reduction in the dependence on fossil fuels that pollute the environment.
