Astronomical studies revealed much about the earth, where humans live, the solar system, and the entire universe. Most of these were as a result of the developments in science, which later improved, and more discoveries made up to date. Later, institutions emerged with dedicated studies to the solar system. Some include the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, based in the United States. Machines were developed like satellites, rockets, and telescopic cameras to collect information for analysis. The development of astronomy as a course later proved to be an area of interest to the entire world. This paper analyses how the study of astronomy shaped the world and societies today, and the future situation after the studies.
Energy Development
The power of the sun is one item mentioned as having featured in the earlier studies of astronomy. Bertz (2020) indicated that astonomers discovered how the sun generates much heat and light, by the reaction in the hydrogen atoms. This was how nuclear fission was discovered. Later, they transferred this information to study other atoms and developed nuclear energy. Uranium and other group one elements in Chemistry were the most significant in this discovery. The first was atomic and nuclear bombs used in world wars. Later, the concept was advanced to produce nuclear power. Due to its reliability and efficiency, most countries started producing more energy to meet their domestic and industrial needs. Through nuclear fission, fifty states now have this energy around the globe. The benefits are increased industrial development, manufacturing, and reliable power for domestic use.
Communication
Communication in space happens through radar systems. These are the tapped radio waves, which transmit information from one station where the sender is, to another where the receiver is. The development came at the climax of World War II when the British government consulter a physicist named Watt, to help them destroy the enemy planes (Betz, 2010). In retrospect, Watt assisted them in tracking incoming planes into their territory. Later, the technology was applied in improving air transport systems, in planes and radio communication. It also contributed to developments in weather forecasts and meteorology in evaluating data from the space to determine weather patterns. Mobile phone communications improved daily lives, thanks to the research in radio waves and magnetic transmissions.
