Research Paper Instructions:

Prompt:Power Point Presentation. You will create an informationalpower point presentation on the seven historical Constitutions of the state of Texas. At a minimum you should include the years that the constitution was in effect, and at least 2 pieces of information regarding either the content, circumstances of its creation, or major politicalevents the Constitution was a key part of (e.g. the first Constitution was enacted inthe process ofTexas’ separation from Mexico –that would be a fact surrounding its creation).Requirements(Minimum):8 Slides minimum –1 title slide, and 7 content slides (1 for each Constitution)Recommendations:See the “Power Point Grading Rubric” for specifics, but to receive an “A” you should include cited sources from outside the textbook, and should include more than the minimum number of slides. To do this, I would choose some of the more important constitutions and have multiple slides for them. The idea of this assignment is to convey to me that you have at least spent some time thinking about the differences between the each of the constitutions, so try to have at least 1 fact for each constitution that is pretty unique –this may come from outside the textbook, another requirement to achieve an “A” on this assignment. In terms of design, I encourage you to set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can do in that amount of time to make the project look clean, eye catching, and professional –don’t spend too long on the design at the expense of content.** Overall, I would expect this assignment to take you approximately 1 –1.5hours to completeif you have alreadyread the section regarding the evolution of the Constitutions in the textbook.Required Elements: 40 points possibleRequired ElementsStudent createsthe required number of slidesand follows formatting instructions.(More than minimum20 pts/ Minimum10pts /No 0 points)Student attempts to provide details for all parts of the prompt at hand.(Yes 20 pts / Somewhat 10pts / No 0 pts)Content: 50 points possibleGrading CategoryExcellentGoodRoom for ImprovementCriticalEngagement(___/20points)Student providessuperiorevidence of critically engaging with the presentation by including information from outside sources that are cited at the end of the presentation.Student providesevidence of critically engaging with the presentation bysuccessfullyincluding information from the textbook in the presentation.Student does not provide adequate evidence of critical engagement with the presentation.
