Learning a Lot About the Laws in Place to Protect Businesses

The topic I found the most interesting was learning about contracts.  I enjoyed reading the Lucy vs Zehmer case as well as the project from Module 7 with Dave the pet store owner, Lou the landlord, and Jasmine the yoga studio owner. I never realized how much contracts are tied into everything we do in our every day life, even going as far as out with some friends to a bar.  It is always important to have things in writing (or a contract) because as we can see this can negatively or positively affect an outcome when things are said with or without any physical evidence to back it up. In the case with Jasmine and Lou there was no physical contract between them, Lou met her out one night and told her she could rent there for as long as she wanted.  Technically he can terminate her whenever he wants to without a written contract.  In the case with Lucy vs Zehmner, Zehmer put in writing about wanting to sell his farmland and even though he argued he was not in the proper mindset from a night out drinking with his friend, and stating it was all a joke, the court saw it as a good faith written contract made.  

My ideas and perceptions changed about business law and its scope from learning a lot about the laws in place to protect businesses, employees, and clients.  There are laws put in place to make sure businesses are running properly and efficiently, to make sure employees are treated fairly, and clients are being served properly. Business Law is all around us, even at our current jobs there are human resource departments to monitor employees are getting the proper legal benefits such as sick time, vacation time, etc. and that employees are treated fairly and behaving properly.  

I loved taking this course and I will use the information I learned in this course in my personal and professional life whether that be signing a job offer or purchasing a home.  I will always make sure I have any important information

put in writing for legal purposes and to prevent any future problems or questions from arising.  Business law helps in protecting the business, employee, and client in all different ways through many different laws.

I have really enjoyed the Business Law class this term. It has been difficult and informative. I have learned some important dos and don'ts about business law. The main purpose of law is to keep order, settle debates, set standards, and protect rights when it comes to business relations involving organizations and consumers. Hopefully, I have learned enough this term to help me identify a contract that is not legal, or one that is designed to take advantage of the deal. 

The most interesting and informative topic for me was contract law. After taking this class, it is important to have a working knowledge about contract law when entering into a contract with others. It is particularly important to have some knowledge of contract law. Contract law is the body of law which rules, administers, and explains and shed light on agreements associated with the trade of goods, services, possessions, or money. If a business owner follows said rules, perhaps the relationship between the organization and the consumers will be well respected and help the business thrive successfully. Personally, I will always get a contract in writing in order to stay away from verbal contract confusion.  

The information obtained in this class will be utilized both professionally and personally. For any personal business, I will make sure I always use a contract that is signed by myself and the other party. I will stay away from any verbal contract. I will uphold all business standards and make sure the contract is protected. Professionally I will use the information obtained from business law to start my professional career in Marriage and Family Therapy. In this field the participants will have to sign consent forms and other papers to enter into a contract to receive the treatment they need,
