Identifying the Choice for Research Project
My research project focuses on the merits and demerits of using personal communication gadgets among caregivers when providing patient care. In particular, nurses can benefit from electronic devices by accessing essential evidence-based materials that enable them to know the best treatment plans for different patients. On the other hand, personal communication devices can be distractors, particularly when used to play video games during work time.
Explaining the Significance and Interest in the Topic
My interest and significance in the topic are to show whether personal communication devices can promote quality patient care or distract nurses from achieving their goals. In particular, caregivers can use smartphones to search for crucial information about laboratory tests, treatment procedures, medications, and diagnoses (Jong, Donelle, & Kerr, 2020). They can also communicate with their colleagues through video calling and text messaging to seek assistance when the need arises.
