My colleagues have profoundly influenced the way I understand the psychopharmacologic approaches to treatment. However, parts of their work lead to confusion primarily because of the omission of concepts and lack of cohesion.

My first colleague goes directly to the explanation of concepts nut does not begin with a clear definition of concepts, which leads to confusion at later stages of reading.
The colleague helps me to understand the agonist-antagonist spectrum action psychopharmacological agents occur but does not clearly what agonist and antagonist are. According to Stahl (2013), agonists are chemicals that bind on receptors activating them to produce biological responses.
He also compares and contrasts ion gated channels and g couple proteins but does not give background information on what they are. Carta and Sigel (2014) identified two classes of receptors that help in the opening and closing of synaptic channels. They include ionotropic receptors and metabotropic receptors. G proteins fall under the metabotropic receptors.
