Here are some tips to help you succeed with the assignment on conflict resolution for week 3.
You have a paper due at the end of week 3. Here are some "helpful" hints for all of you, so you do well!
1). Don’t forget to follow the grading rubric! Your best chance of doing well is to follow each section of the rubric for this paper. If you do not have information from each section, you will lose valuable points!
2).The paper asks for what type of conflict you observed. Please look at p.323 in the book for the 3 types of conflict. It’s at the bottom of page 323- hint hint !
2). One way to keep your paper organized is to use "headings" for each part of the rubric. This way you will know that you covered each part! For example- headings might be labeled “conflict on the unit’, “stages of conflict” and “strategies for conflict resolution”, and “conclusion”. These are only suggestions but may be of use.
3).Please use the APA template in course resources! Also, you have free use of Grammarly and Tutor.com! Please utilize these. They are so helpful!
4) You may use the course textbook as one of your references and Two Scholarly References! That makes three references required for this paper. Failing to have these references you will be docked points!
5) Your paper MUST be 5-7 pages excluding title and reference page. Please try to keep your paper this length. You will not lose points if you have 8 or 9 pages but 5-7 should cover what is required.
6) If you have a reference you MUST have an in-text citation. Again, APA guidelines should be followed for the correct way to credit your sources.
7) This paper will be submitted through Turnitin. Often students will have a high similarity score because they are not paraphrasing. Please remember to limit quotes and instead put things in your own words. You need to have a similarity score that is 24% or less. There is also an announcement titled Time-out tips to ensure a successful assignment that is helpful to help you avoid plagiarism and succeed with your assignment.
I want all of you to do well, and have great confidence in all of you! Any questions, please reach out to me! I am here to help you succeed!

CONFLICT RESOLUTION
[Your Name]
[Course No.: NR447]
Course Description: CONFLICT RESOLUTION
[Professor]
[Chamberlain University]
14TH SEPTEMBER 2018, SUNDAY, 11:59 P.M. MT
Introduction
Conflicts are prevalent in almost every organization as they are fueled by sharp ideological disagreements between individuals or teams. Healthcare organizations are not exempt due to constant interaction between healthcare professionals, hospital staff and patients. The role of nurses includes provision of nursing care, patient education and hospital leadership roles. Thus, in the course of expediting their duties, nurses work in multidisciplinary teams where they interact with other healthcare professionals. It is this interaction, ideological disparities and role overlap that increase the probability of conflict situations happening. The research explores the issue of workplace conflicts and strategies for resolution within a healthcare environment.
Background of Problem
Conflict is a dynamic phenomenon that can either be positive or dysfunctional to the effective performance of duties. It could arise due to real or perceived disparities in collective goals, values, and actions. Sources of workplace conflicts includes staff competition, divergent professional views, disparate economic views, resource scarcity, the need for reform, unclear roles, unrealistic/unmet expectations, insufficient teamwork experience, poor interpersonal skills, poor communication and different performance expectations for diverse nursing roles (Huan& Yazdanifard, 2012). Still, conflicts can be triggered by structural variations in professional knowledge and power.
Observation of Conflict In Practice
The conflict that I recently witnessed involved a doctor and a nurse in the inpatient department of the hospital where I work. It emerged from a physician-nurse interaction in one of the inpatient ward units and a blood pressure patient. The nurse was highly competent and savvy in so far as nursing was concerned. She was an experienced nurse who regularly documented patient feedback, and was rated as one of the kindest and thorough in the hospital unit.
On the other hand, the physician was notable and highly acclaimed in his field of specialty. He too was extremely thorough and great at handling patients. The physician approached the nurse inquiring on how the blood pressure of the patient was being held over for some days without his knowledge. The nurse on duty, who I believe was a direct communicator, offered a direct response stating that “I am unaware, and not quite sure about that. I am not even aware, so allow me time to assess the situation and respond shortly."
Notwithstanding her response, and looking unsatisfied with the nurses’ response, the physician probed further. His response was: “You do not even have to make any further assessment. I have been observing him for like 30 minutes while tracking the blood pressure and the medications dispensed, and it just doesn’t add up.”
The conversation got even louder as the two took on each other through the heated verbal exchange. Realizing that the conversation was now getting abusive, the nurse suddenly walked out saying that, “I have no idea ...
