In particular, a nursing portfolio entails documents that depict a caregiver’s experience, abilities, skills, accomplishments, and involvement (Burns, 2014). The paper focuses on strategies that nurses can use to develop portfolios that foster professional development goals.
One of the primary strategies for including academic accomplishments and activities into my professional development goals is acquiring relevant nursing certifications. Nurses can benefit by listing and describing their past accomplishments and experiences in their digital portfolios to bolster their competence (Williams & Jordan, 2007). For example, achieving a certified status shows that a person understands what should be done in a particular profession. Caregivers portray that they can make proper decisions and get confidence since they are satisfied with their careers.
The second strategy entails caregivers’ motives to become the best in their roles and responsibilities. Nurses want to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by participating in academic activities to develop their careers (Pool, Poell, Berings, & Cate, 2016).
