Improving Prevention of Pressure Injury Using the PDSA Method
The quality of health care is directly proportionate to the level of health care provided. Preventing pressure injuries among patients is a great improvement in caregiving (Ahmad & Biagio, 2020). The Plan-Do-Study-Act models for prevention and quality improvement will be used. This rapid cycle of improvement will be helpful to alleviate pain and suffering from patients.
The Plan-Do-Study-Act model involves various steps in cycles of four stages that are used to carry out improvement changes (Knudsen et al., 2019). It is a problem-solving cycle, with step one being a Plan, step two Do, step three Study, and finally, step four is Act. The planning phase includes recruiting a team to work with; it is crucial to consider the team's strengths. Draft an aim statement that answers what needs to be accomplished, determents of improvements, and what should be done to effect changes.
The Do phase includes entails the actual work where the action plan is implemented fully. It is important to correct data essential in evaluating the project's progress, where you document challenges faced and unexpected effects, and general observation. The Study phase, depending on the formulated statement, will be used to evaluate the result of the project and determine the trend (Knudsen et al., 2019). Finally, the Act phase involves a reflection on the plan and the outcome. The team has to determine the resulted success and standardize it. If the project is a failure, then a re-assessment should be done

To improve patient's health outcomes, the hospital must address areas for change both professionally and technologically. Pressure ulcers being both preventable and curable has a significant effect on the long-term health of immobilized patients. Pressure injury may worsen the current medical problem of the patient. Again, pressure injuries increase nurses' workload on duty because wound care is more demanding than prevention (Boyko & Yang, 2018). Finally, the overall function of a nurse to care for the patient; patients must be managed with the required skills to avoid...
