Complete a critique of the quantitative and qualitative articles that were submitted in Topic 3.

This assignment will be completed in three parts. Refer to the information below as a guide to the information that should be included in each part.

Follow the guidelines for the quantitative and qualitative article critiques in Chapter 5, Box 5.2: Guide to an Overall Critique of a Quantitative Research Report and Box 5.3: Guide to an Overall Critique of a Qualitative Research Report of the textbook or the Research Critique Additional Template Resource.

1)      Utilize a central heading to indicate that what follows is the critique of the articles.

2)      The side headings of the critique for each article should follow the headings in Box 5.2 and 5.3.

3)      Note that within these BASIC guidelines, there are additional references to Detailed Critiquing Guidelines found in various boxes in chapters focused on the various elements of a research study report. Use these to expand the research study and to learn specific terminology appropriate to the critique of research.

Results
Data analysis
The data collected focused on identifying the cases of compassion fatigue, stress triggers and coping strategies utilized among health practitioners working in a trauma team. The data analysis used frequencies and standard deviation in describing the data. Since the data collected was from a study focus group, the data strategy was compatible with the qualitative research design, while demographics and the themes associated with burnout, compassion fatigue and stress triggers were noted. Among the study participants those who reported positive aspects of the job were better placed to deal with stress, as they were satisfied in the job. Increased interaction with family members was potentially stressful to the participants especially when there were negative conversations. The analytic procedures did not suggest biases in the study.
Findings
The article summarizes the findings and identifies the emerging themes with the trauma team members using group or independent coping strategies to deal with trauma and distress. The abuse of patients was one of the factors that were a stress trigger, and when some suffered nightmares and second guessed their clinical decisions when stressed. The negative effect of compassion fatigue (CF), burnout syndrome (BOS) and Secondary trauma stress (STS) affected the quality of life in the trauma department (Berg, et al., 2016).
