Research Paper Instructions:

I. Description of the disease. Write one introductory paragraph that explains the disease, the symptoms, the prevalence, who is at risk and any other interesting facts or figures.
II. List of risk factors. What are the risk factors that may contribute to this disease? A risk factor is any attribute of an individual that increases the likelihood of developing the disease. Write at least one paragraph that describes the risk factors associated with the disease. Discuss both modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors.
III. Three related nutrients. What are the nutrients that play a role in this disease? Research three of them. Each nutrient should have its own paragraph and answer the following questions:
a. What is the nutrient?
b. How does the nutrient play a role in the development or prevention of the disease?
c. What is the amount recommended and which organization makes this recommendation?
d. What foods or food groups contain the nutrient?
IV. Recommendations for risk reduction. What are the ways that a person can reduce their risk of this disease? Answer this question in one concluding paragraph that summarizes at least three specific lifestyle recommendations that may reduce an individual's risk of developing this disease. Include diet, exercise and any other relevant lifestyle changes.

Heart disease is a general term used to define various conditions that interfere with the heart and blood vessels. There are other heart conditions that are congenital. In most cases, cardiovascular diseases occur when there is a blockage blood vessels (Kloesel & Body, 2017). The adverse effects could lead to cases such as heart attack and stroke. The heart disease has symptoms which include extreme fatigue, nausea, chest pains and shortness of breath. The discomfort is usually caused by pressure and tightness of the chest. Additionally, the pain may be due to the narrowness of the blood vessels. It is important to watch out for a heart disease before it reaches a serious stage.
Risk Factors
There are various risk factors that could cause a cardiac ailment. In most cases, the heart or the blood vessels get impaired. The narrowness of a blood vessel could occur after a buildup of fatty plaques. However, this is a condition that is caused by problems that can be corrected such as smoking and obesity, lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet. On the other hand, a person may be born with the heart disease. Essentially, congenital heart defects are inherited. Other risk factors include stress, excessive use of caffeine or alcohol, dietary supplements, drug abuse, diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure and even a coronary artery disease (Mozaffarian & Howard, 2016). For instance, use of illegal drugs may trigger a fatal arrhythmia on a healthy person. In such a case, electrical signals may not freely travel through the heart causing a deformation that eventually leads to a heart disease.
