Question

What is the problem this research intends to address?

Increasingly, medical staff are required to be more responsible for the healthcare waste (HWC) they produce over the course of their duties. Consequently, hospitals are adopting training programs to help medical staff understand their role in management of HCW. The present study intends to examine the effectiveness of an educational intervention program intended to educate nurses and sanitation staff about HCW management in Sudanese hospital in White Nile State (Elnour et al., 2015).

Introduction Section. Paragraph One and paragraph four (page 316)

What is the problem statement?

Nurse and sanitation workers should be able to manage HCW produce in medical facilities. Thus, it is essential to establish the effectiveness of training programs intended to enhance the medical staff knowledge on HCW management. Some programs may be effective, while others may be ineffective. In the study, the researchers examined the effectiveness of an educational intervention program intended to improve the knowledge of medical staff on HCW management (Elnour et al., 2015).

Introduction Section. Paragraph two and paragraph four (page 316)

What makes this problem important or worth considering?

The knowledge on HCW management is essential as it facilitates proper and safe disposal of HCW, which protects the healthcare staff, patients, the environment, and the community at large (Elnour et al., 2015). Determining the effectiveness of an educational intervention makes it easy for healthcare centers to make decision on the most effective approach to imparting knowledge to healthcare staff on HCW management.

Introduction Section. Paragraph two (page 316)

Define and identify the null and alternative hypotheses being tested?

A null hypothesis describes a commonly accepted fact about a set of variable. To this end, it is mainly presented as a statistical theory proposing that one cannot observe statistical relationship and significance between two variables of a given hypothesis. The null hypothesis tested in the present study was: There is no statistically significant improvement in nursing and sanitation staff knowledge and practice total score about HCW management immediately after the implementation of an educational intervention program and after three months (Elnour et al., 2015). To this end, the null hypothesis suggest that the educational intervention is unlikely to make a difference in the practice and knowledge of health professional about HCW management. Alterna...
