Diabetes mellitus refers to a chronic illness that occurs when the glucose level in the blood is too high. This health condition might occur due to the failure of the pancreas to release enough insulin or the body's lack of responding effectively to the insulin produced (World Health Organization, 2023). The two primary community or family resources that provide services and care for individuals with diabetes mellitus are hospitals and support groups. The latter help affected people to gather relevant information and share their experiences to improve their lifestyles. Since diabetes is a chronic disease, individuals suffering from it have to learn how to live with it by managing its symptoms. Additionally, hospitals are crucial community resources that enable affected people to manage their health conditions by getting the right medications. Besides, if individuals with diabetes are not helped to manage the disease, it might lead to other illnesses, such as kidney failure, leg amputation, stroke, and blindness, among others.
