The inevitable part of life is death. End-of-life care requires making ethical decisions regarding the critical situations of patients. Death is considered a rite of passage for all human beings. Being the last stage of life, death brings bitterness and sorrow to the deceased's loved ones. Relieving suffering while upholding the desires of the patients is the ultimate objective of end-of-life care. Decision-making becomes more crucial in circumstances where end-of-life care is to be performed. Various situations, including euthanasia, terminal sedation, resuscitation, withdrawing treatment, and mechanical ventilation, create ethical problems for professionals. Ethical principles held in such difficult situations are fidelity, autonomy, nonmaleficence, justice, and beneficence. Religion and Christian views and thoughts also play a vital role in the decision-making process. Christian worldviews are extensively considered due to diversity in faith and religious practices. The case of George sheds light on how Christian views play a part in end-of-life decision-making. The paper makes an ethical analysis of George's suffering and decision-making in light of the Christian narrative and worldviews.

The interpretation of George's suffering base on the fallenness of the world in the Christian narrative. George’s suffering can be viewed as a result of his actions in the past. The results of sin as defined by the Practicing dignity article are death, suffering, diseases, and pain. Sin tracks back to the beginning of the world at the times of Adams and Eve. Their disobedience which makes them eat from the tree of knowledge opens up their understanding and knowledge of good and evil (Bell, 2020). The commitment of sin had a bad impact on humanity as it resulted in punishment from God. Possession of knowledge by human beings should drive them to find ways of redeeming themselves from the sinful ways to evade God’s punishment.
The fall of human beings broke the excellent relationship that existed between God and human beings. That reveals the beginning of the fall of the world. Accordingly, the Christian story shows that human sorrow and suffering start due to the fallen nature of the world. Adam is punished by God to work and earn food, as Eve is punished to bear the pain during her labor period. According to the Christian narrative, suffering is thus regarded as a curse and punishment from God (Bell, 2020). George's suffering thus comes as a result of the sins he has committed. In this context, George has to accept his suffering. However, God gives humankind the chance to redeem themselves here on earth for their sinful life. Human beings should embrace suffering and death as a way of life and continue living a Christian life by doing good deeds.
