Research Paper Instructions:

The last part of the paper focused on America and this time the focus will be solely on Canadian healthcare but nothing about comparing the two of them. Will be focusing on the same parameters that were talked about in the last part on American healthcare. Below is the actual description and I will attach the file again and look at part 2 only for that.
A description of your chosen country’s health care system using parameters that you chose and used to describe the U.S. health care system. Support your description using current research or data (from literature) on the topic. Use at least 3 articles selected from recent (within the last five years) peer-reviewed journals or scientific publications (you may, in addition, select news articles from periodicals)

Guidelines for the Research Writing Assignments

Topic:   Compare the U.S. Health Care System with that of another country.

Choose an OECD country and then compare it to the U.S. The paper should overview the health care system model or models used, and compare financing (cost), delivery systems (access) and outcomes (quality).  The paper should describe costs, access and quality, and how values and/or ethics drive and/or impede, if any, the operation of their systems.

Format

The Research Writing Assignments are comprised of the following 3 sections:

Assignment 1- Due 11/4: A description of the U.S. health care system using parameters that you will also use to compare your chosen country’s health care system. Support your description using current research or data (from literature) on the topic. Use at least 3 articles selected from recent (within the last five years) peer-reviewed journals or scientific publications (you may, in addition, select news articles from periodicals) (2 pages).   35 points

Assignment 2 – Due 11/18: A description of your chosen country’s health care system using parameters that you chose and used to describe the U.S. health care system. Support your description using current research or data (from literature) on the topic. Use at least 3 articles selected from recent (within the last five years) peer-reviewed journals or scientific publications (you may, in addition, select news articles from periodicals) (2 pages).  50 points

Assignment 3 – Due 12/9: A comparison which contrasts and compares the US health care system with the country you have chosen.  As you describe the most important aspects of each country’s system, be sure to give discrete examples, facts and statistics, impacts and/or outcomes to illustrate the similarities and the differences. Use the same parameters as detailed in Sections 1 and 2 above.  65 points

Be sure to describe challenges that each system experiences, and detail efforts to address those challenges. Are there implications that can be drawn from this comparison that could lead to improvements for one or the other, or for both countries? (6 pages).

References should be provided following each submission above.

Canada Healthcare
The government runs healthcare in Canada through the National Health Insurance Program, which covers all Canadian citizens (Martin et al., 2018). The financing of universal healthcare insurance is through federal taxes. The Canadian government avails the funds to the ten provinces and two territories to fund their local Medicare programs. According to Martin et al. (2018), the federal government sets and maintains healthcare practice guidelines. Also, the government regulates the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and other chemical products. Besides, the Canadian federal government also cares about people suffering from addictions and mental health disorders and provides funding for such institutions. For instance, the government provides funding for Gambling Addiction Centers located almost in all provinces, which is essential in fighting the habit's widespread effects (Malla et al., 2018). The stipulations of the Canada Healthcare Act (CHA) of 1984 define the Canadian healthcare delivery system.
Each province and territory has its healthcare insurance plan in Canada, which has to follow the Canada Health Act (CHA) standards (Martin et al., 2018). All medical insurance programs administration happens publicly and cannot apply to profit-making medical institutions. All healthcare covers have to be comprehensive as per the CHA requirements. Healthcare insurance plans are universal only within the province or territory and are available to all members of that area (Martin et al., 2018). Besides, all healthcare plans should always allow residents to choose their medical practitioners freely. Finally, all medical insurance plans have to offer a specific level of access to medical care regarding CHA requirements. Even though healthcare in Canada is a government program, health care, in most instances, is through private practices (Wilson et al., 2020). Thus, the government does not pay medical practitioners.
However, the medical institution caters for their chargers on a per-visit approach. Although healthcare in Canada is a universal plan, CHA does not classify medical needs based on necessity (Martin et al., 2018). Thus, each province or territory works with medical institutions to ensure that their residents can access necessary medical procedures and hospital-physician services. In most instances, dental and eye problems are not included in Medicare coverage (Himmelstein, Campbell & Woolhandler, 2020). Also, prescription drugs do not fall under the national health insurance plan. However, provinces or territories have the liberty to decide if they ...
