Preterm labor begins from the 36th week of pregnancy, and during this process, various changes in the cervix (including dilation and effacement) take place. When a woman experiences signs of preterm labor, she is recommended by her doctor to take bed rest and reduce the number of her physical activities. It’s safe to say that limited activities and bed rest are strongly linked to one another. These two things are recommended to ensure health of the woman and her unborn baby.
