Learners with disabilities are widespread in the United States. These students require special teachers with special training and skills to cope with the learners. These disorders can be complex for learners to disclose since several learners think they are healthy as they appear fine, which is different. As a result, special education teachers have different roles to ensure effective and smooth learning. These educators also play a special as advocates for these learners.
Special education teacher deals with learners from preschool to high school. These educators train educators with emotional, mental, physical, or learning difficulties. For instance, some teacher assists scholar in generating study skills like using flashcards and highlighting text. Other teachers teach students with disabilities and can use wheelchairs and adaptive equipment (“U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,” 2022). They also work with learners with emotional disorders and autism spectrum disorders, including depression and anxiety.
Special education teachers work with specialists, general education teachers, parents, and administrators to design Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
