You can choose to focus on a specific positive psychology intervention and research ways that these interventions HAVE BEEN APPLIED in classrooms and/or schools. For example, character strengths, resiliency, flow, gratitude, mindfulness, empathy, creativity, parent-child relationships, cross-cultural well-being, etc.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Explore in greater depth the topics of positive psychology above. Write a reflection/research paper of a minimum of 3 pages and NO MORE than 5 double-spaced pages, with 1-inch margins on all sides, in Times or Arial typeface, the size of the font should be 12 points, detailing what you have learned about this topic both from the course and from your research findings. You are expected to:
1. Define your topic clearly and explain why you chose it and how it relates to your interests.
2. Demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the terminology, research studies, and theories surrounding this topic – briefly define any positive psychology and/or positive education terms and concepts that are referenced in your paper. You are required to make AT LEAST ONE reference to the Compton and Hoffman textbook.
3. In addition to the textbook, you will provide (at least 2 sources and no more than 5 sources) including articles of current research and/or theories related to your topic. Sources can include research and theoretical magazines, journal articles, non-commercial Education, Psychology, Health Internet websites, and books on positive psychology and positive education.
A TOPIC can be defined as basically any concept related to positive psychology and psychological well-being. Examples include Positive education, mindfulness, and meditation, resilience, grit, goal setting, motivation, relationships, gratitude, creativity, a positive work environment, etc.
RESEARCH can be defined as any published study, analysis, or meta-analysis from the field of positive psychology and/or positive education. When making claims about benefits, results and outcomes of the interventions, programs, etc., back up your claims with research studies. For example, if you mention the importance of positive education, nurturing healthy relationships or the benefits of meditation, cite some research or a theory that demonstrates your point.
THEORY can be defined as any set of concepts or ideas that seek to explain a phenomenon related to human well-being or other aspects of positive psychology. Think Peterson, Seligman, Maslow, Kabat-Zinn, Lyubomirsky, Diener, Deci, and Ryan—each of these psychologists has a theory that seeks to explain some aspect of human well-being. Please draw from theory when supporting the thesis of your research paper. Be sure to mention the psychologist(s) that are related to your research topic. For example, a paper on Flow needs to mention Csikszentmihalyi and pronunciation (just kidding)! Or Jon Kabat-Zinn on mindfulness, Peterson & Seligman on character strengths, etc. you get the idea.

According to positive psychology, a phenomenon characterizing behavioral, personality, motivational, and social psychology (Compton & Hoffman, 2020), creativity refers to humans' capacity to develop emergent and novel ideas, concepts, and challenges to societal problems. It is a component of our lives and enhances humans' resilience, giving them joy, self-realization, and opportunities (Charyton et al., 2009). From the classroom or school perspective, creativity denotes the interaction connecting the physical and social learning setting, the features and attitudes of learners and educators, and an evident problem-solving process that generates a distinctive product (can be tangible or intangible). It entails developing something unique, significant, and helpful to the individual or persons who generated the thing within their social circumstance. This is very significant in education. For instance, an aspect relatively creative to a lower-class learner, such as discovering that a considerable incline on a gradient triggers items to roll quickly, would never be regarded as creative in a university learner. Creativity can as well be utilized to suggest emergent solutions to challenges in varying contexts, communities, and nations. An instance of this is distinct learning institutions solving a similar challenge and sharing solutions. Creativity is a significant component of learning that schools should implement in several ways in the learning environment. When trying something emergent, a creative concept is involved. There are distinct creativity levels, and this creativity increases with experience and time.
I chose to focus on creativity as a positive psychology intervention due to various reasons. Most importantly, the creativity topic from the positive psychology viewpoint is undoubtedly under-researched. Few studies have focused on investigating this topic, especially when relating it to its application in learning. Secondly, creativity is essential for schools as its application in the classroom context promotes students' performances, works hard beyond personal efforts, and encourages thinking outside the box. Creativity as a positive psychology topic or intervention relates to my area of interest. Specifically, I look forward to applying creativity in my career in the future because I believe that without creativity, solving problems, including the basic ones, would be problematic and relatively not practical. Being creative means having a valuable skill. Educators can apply several strategies to allow students to be increasingly creative in everything they do. Creativity is a valuable tool in education since it develops cognitive complexity or capacity in children.
