Hear Me The Facts about How the Brain Is Impacted By Hearing Issues Hearing loss is one of the complex sensory problems. Ears are the organs that facilitate the hearing process, but the actual auditory processing occurs in the brain. A failure to treat a hearing impairment can lead to auditory deprivation. Notably, the parts facilitating hearing are likely to shrink because of lack of use (Burry, 2020). Untreated hearing problems can result in the deprivation of sound for the brain. The part of the brain that facilitates hearing needs to be stimulated by the sound, which is converted into mechanical energy when being transmitted through the ear to the brain. All these occur because hearing is a brain activity.  The ears receive the sound while the brain decodes it helping to make sense (Burry, 2020).
