Culture is a vital aspect in the society. Most people are brought up in a certain setting of values and norms that they follow throughout their lives. That way, it is clear that people have different cultural backgrounds. The same way, organizations have cultural backgrounds that define how they operate their everyday activities. Moreover, globalization has caused much transformation across many organizations in that they will have to learn how to integrate cultural differences into their operations. Therefore, there is a need to learn and implement strategies that enhance effective management of cultural differences across boundaries.
Cross Cultural Differences
Culture is refers to inherited values, concepts and ways of living which are shared by people of the same group. Culture is divided into two kinds which include generic culture which is shared among all people living in the universe and the local culture which is shared among a small group which exists as a particular symbol (Cavazotte, Hartman & Bahiense, 2013). Cross cultural management may be defined as the explanation of the people’s behavior around the globe in an organization and it demonstrate to people on how to work in organizations with employees and clients from various different cultures. The importance of cross cultural aspect is on growing co-operation between organizationsin different countries where difficulties may come up due to different culture. This essay aims at focusing on how cross culture differences suggest on managing people across the international boundaries.
Cultural intelligence is a suggestion of cross cultural differences. In order of living with harmony with other people of different cultures, an individual is required to adapt with the differences in a new culture (Kankaras & Moors, 2012). This will demonstrate the ability to exhibit various behaviors including skills and behaviors, which are in turn the attitudes and values of others culturally. This cultural intelligence covers other various areas such as linguistic intelligence which is helpful in dealing with the customer’s native language and also using international English language to communicate effectively with other persons of other different cultures. Culture intelligence also deals with spatial intelligence which involves the space used in meetings and introductions (Cavazotte, Hartman & Bahiense, 2013). It also deals with intrapersonal intelligence which leads to involvement awareness of an individual culture style in order to make adjustments to international counterparts. It also involves interpersonal intelligence which entails the abilities to understand other people and their motivations in the organizations.
