Race can be identified as a form of social construction that can be identified with identity. The perception of racism is dependent on the community where specific races are found. As a result, this course has presented me with substantial knowledge on race, its origin, and different perceptions associated with specific communities. The course has provided a basis for the comprehension of the definition of cultures linked to racial groups. The concept of racism has also been expounded on to create an understanding of racism activities around the globe and especially in the Chinese culture. Racism has also been affiliated with social superiority, whereby some races have been identified as superior to others. Moreover, aspects of race have been identified as a vital determinant of human capacities and behavior.
Specifically, the identification of the Chinese immigrants and exclusion as an example of racial identities has provided in-depth knowledge on the perception of racism. The Chinese detainees underwent anger and frustration after they were brought to the US and first settled in Angel Island. For the course, these actions portray racism whereby the Chinese and Asian race was observed as inferior compared to the American. Importantly, the Americans were aimed at applying these Asians as slaves due to their racial prospects. A review of these actions shows the status of the Chinese in American society presently.
