The purpose of this assignment is to gain further insight and reflect on the new information you learned about Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The assignment will paint a real life picture of this disorder through the storytelling of those with lived experience.

3.Salif shares several benefits of ADHD– regarding how we engage with it in our schools, homes and selves. How do you think individuals who are diagnosed with ADHD might react to this perspective. Please explain. (100 words)

I think that ADHD can be thought of as both a neurocognitive profile but also as a disorder. As a neurocognitive profile, it is evident that there are traits that individuals with ADHD may do better than those without. For example, the ability to brainstorm or move through deeper thoughts and navigate outside one's comfort zone. Individuals with ADHD engage in intense concentration, energized attention, and being completely immersed in an activity that produces joy. In such a situation, individuals with ADHD can better use such abilities to accomplish tasks such as innovative ideas and solving problems. However, I also think that ADHD should be characterized as a disorder because of the diminished ability to function within "normal" circumstances, resulting in distress.
