Feedback on Peer Policy Brief
Peer Review 1:
The draft policy memo is appealing and meets the specific thresholds as stated in the instructions. However, separating the executive summary into two paragraphs is not appropriate. An executive summary addresses the whole draft policy, and it would be necessary to make it short, one paragraph, and covers all the ideas in the policy brief. Secondly, it is not appropriate to reference the executive summary since it provides the reader with key elements in the policy brief. Therefore, referencing it is not recommendable. Regardless of the structure, the executive summary is comprehensive and focuses on valid statistics such as the $50 billion used in the corrections and valid recidivism data. Additionally, using specific states such as Michigan and Oregon in the data visualization tool is reliable since they are examples of states with reduced recidivism due to effective policies. However, in your data visualization table, take note of your spelling; for instance, you have written 'recdivism' instead of recidivism. Lastly, the key area you have done a wonderful job is policy recommendation. The provided policy recommendations are valid since they align with Oregon and Michigan, which have adequately considered similar changes and received a positive outco...
