Phosphorus Crisis and Nitrogen Fertilizers
Directions: Discuss the following prompts with your group during class. Each week’s Discussion Leader will keep the conversation focused on the prompts and submit a summary of the discussion on behalf of all group members; all group members will serve as a Leader at least once over the semester. The Leader may consider drafting the summaries together with the group to ensure detail and accuracy, and/or taking extra time after class to edit or refine responses before submitting.
Grading Criteria: Reading Discussions will be graded on:
Detail of group responses, including - length of response (approx. 2-3 paragraphs to summarize the conversation), specific examples from the source material(s), personal examples from group members, examples from additional sources, connections with lectures and other course materials, etc.
Credit given to sources, including - mention of which text/source is being referred to in examples, mention of group members’ unique contributions (ie: who said what), identifying when additional research outside of the assigned materials is used, etc.
Thoughtful reflection, including - critical consideration of the text, outstanding questions the group has that may require followup, reviewing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of a proposed solution, etc.
